Why does school start in August?
Although I am very happy to be back at Cortland it upsets me a little bit that we have to start class so early. I have friends from other schools that are not starting for another week to week and a half and even other who are from SUNY schools who did not start until late this week. As far as I am concerned August is still the summer and we should not have to be in class until at least the day after Labor Day. Cortland should give us this week to relax and get ready for the upcoming semester instead of throwing us straight into class. The week of relaxtion would not only give us time get back to the swing of things but would also give new students a chance to get to no the campus a little bit and get used to college life.

I agree with you because it would definitly be a good time for students to connect with eachother before being thrown into homeowrk and class. I know TC3 doesnt start until this Wednesday. Did you also know that our spring break is a week before almost any other school?
I deffinately feel you on this. All my buddies at home start alot later to and i am like the first one to leave. I think we should start after labor day one because it's better for us and two just so it doesn't cut out in the middle of school.
I'm a freshman, and although i knew the campus well before i got in here, it would definitely been easier to find every class instead of going early to it to walk around and find it. Also it would have been easier to meet new people if we had time to hang out instead of studying all the time!
I totally agree with you. My boyfriend goes to TC3 and he doesn't even move in till tomorrow. But what are we going to do right?
I cant seem to get used to the idea of starting class uber early. In high school i think we started in like mid september? Now i am supposed to get used to starting in August?!?! I am a sophomore here and this is still an issue i have. I wouldnt mind being in Cortland with all the people at all, it is the class part that I am not too happy about...but hey there are some that have it worse. My best friend goes to Lincoln University in PA and he started back on August 5th
