Election

It is a little less then a month away from the upcoming presidential election and it seems as if everybody is more excited then ever. It seems like almost every class I have there is at least a brief discussion about the two candidates. Although many people have different opinions about the candidate’s one thing is for sure. EVERYBODY is happy so see Bush leave the Whitehouse.
George Bush has created more problems for our country then he actually fixed. I believe that there is no reason that we should still be in Iraq because there is nothing more that we can do. He is sending over soldiers for no reason and America is losing their young men for no reason.
Another reason that it may seem to be that this election is the most talked about is that it is going to be the first election that I am going to be able to vote in. Even though it is a right and a privilege to vote, and I plan on voting my self, after the 2000 election it makes me feel skeptical. The electoral college system is a great system but in the 2000 election I believe it failed. George Bush may have won the most votes in the electoral college but Al Gore won the popular vote. Isn’t the point of voting is for the majority of people to have what they chose? It is not fair that Al Gore did not win that year and hopefully nothing like that will happen in this election.
One thing that worries me if John McCain is elected president of the United States is that he is so old and if he passes away we will have Sarah Palin as president of the United States. Not saying that she is not qualified because she is a woman but the bottom line is going from being governor of Alaska to leading the country is a giant step.
